Uber and Lyft Drivers in California: Employees or Independent Contractors

Episode Summary

Uber, Lyft, and other similar digital labour arbitrage platforms are facing legal challenges around the world to keep part of their workforce, drivers, classified as independent contractors. Nadia and Antonio review two recent cases dealing with these challenges, one coming out from the Supreme Court of Canada and the other from the Superior Court of California. Ironically enough, near Silicon Valley. Antonio continues with the California decision. This is a two parts episode. Common law, laws and regulations may change after the release of this episode.
